Privacy Policy
This is how UniLang collects, uses, and protects information about the people who enquire about, enrol in, or pass through our courses.
Who we are
UniLang is an English language school based in Valletta, Malta, operating under the General Workers’ Union professional network. For the purposes of data protection law in the EU and Malta, UniLang is the data controller for personal information you give us through this website, by email, on WhatsApp, or in person.
What we collect
We collect only what we need to do our job:
- Contact details you give us when you enquire (name, email, phone, country)
- Information about the course you’re interested in and your current English level
- If you enrol: details required for course delivery, attendance tracking, and certification
- Communication with us (emails, WhatsApp messages, enquiry forms)
- Basic technical information our website host logs automatically (IP address, browser type) for security and analytics
Why we use it
We use your information to:
- Reply to your enquiry and propose a suitable course
- Run the course you’ve booked, teaching, scheduling, attendance, certification
- Communicate with you about your studies
- Meet our legal and regulatory obligations as an English language school operating in Malta
- Improve how we teach and how we communicate
Lawful basis
We process your data on the basis of: (a) the contract you enter into with us when you book a course; (b) our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries and running our school; and (c) your consent, where you’ve given it, for example, when subscribing to optional updates from us.
Sharing
We do not sell or rent your personal data. We share it only with the trusted service providers we use to run the school, for example, our email provider, secure file storage, and accounting software, and only as far as is needed for them to do their job. All our processors are bound by data protection agreements.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry data for up to two years if you do not enrol. For students who enrol, we keep academic records and certification data for as long as we are required to under Maltese law and ELT Council regulations, and longer where you ask us to (for example, to issue a duplicate certificate).

This website uses minimal cookies, primarily for site functionality and basic anonymous analytics. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. You can manage cookies through your browser at any time.

- Ask us to delete it (where we’re not required by law to keep it)
- Restrict or object to certain types of processing
- Receive a portable copy of your data

Terms & Conditions
These terms govern your relationship with UniLang as a student or prospective student. By enrolling on a course, you accept these terms.
Who we are
UniLang is an English language school operating in Valletta, Malta. These terms are governed by Maltese law, with disputes subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Malta.
Bookings & enrolment
A booking is confirmed only when you receive written enrolment confirmation from UniLang and have paid the agreed fee (or the agreed deposit). Until that point, places are not held.
Where applicable, a short placement test will be carried out to confirm your level before the course begins. We reserve the right to recommend a different course or level based on the result.
Fees & payment
Course fees are quoted at the time of enrolment and are payable as set out in your enrolment confirmation. Where instalment plans are agreed, payments must be made on or before the agreed dates. Late payment may result in suspension of access to lessons until the account is brought up to date.
Cancellations & refunds
Cancellation by you: cancellations made more than 30 days before the course start date receive a full refund less administrative costs. Cancellations within 30 days of the course start date are subject to the cancellation terms in your enrolment confirmation. After the course has started, fees are generally non-refundable except in cases of documented illness or exceptional circumstances, at our discretion.
Cancellation by us: in the rare case that we cancel a course before it begins, you will receive a full refund or a credit towards a future course, at your choice.
Attendance & certification
An end-of-course certificate requires a minimum attendance of 85%. Attendance is recorded via the attendance form submitted before each lesson. Falling below 85% means a certificate will not be issued.
Lesson policy
Students agree to the lesson policy outlined at enrolment, which includes punctuality, online camera-on practice for video lessons, English-only effort during class, and respectful conduct toward classmates and teachers.
Materials & intellectual property
Course materials produced by UniLang, slides, worksheets, recordings, syllabi, are the intellectual property of UniLang and are made available for personal study only. Materials may not be reproduced, redistributed, or used commercially without written permission.
Liability
UniLang takes reasonable care in delivering its courses. To the extent permitted by Maltese law, our liability is limited to the fees paid by the student for the course in question. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for failures caused by events outside our reasonable control.
Force majeure
Where lessons cannot be delivered in person due to circumstances outside our control (public health restrictions, severe weather, infrastructure outages), we will move lessons online wherever possible. Refunds are not generally offered where courses continue to be delivered in alternative formats.
Updates to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent change. For students currently enrolled, the terms applicable are those in force at the time of enrolment unless otherwise agreed in writing.
